Sustainability is on everyone’s lips these days, and for a good reason: with the textile industry as one of the biggest polluters, it’s obvious that we have to rethink our consumption style and way of looking at fashion.
YDU is working with small, independent designers, who produce their items in a responsible way. Some of our smallest Dutch designers make their items in hand. And from this spring we will be adding nothing less than 5 new designers who are sustainable and/or only use organic fabrics.
But sustainability is more than the type of fabric used and how and where things are produced. As a consumer, make it a habit to only buy items that you really love, but that are of a high quality: Buy less, choose well and make it last. Discover your own personal style - don’t be afraid of trying new things, but steer away from buying items you will only wear for one occasion or items that doesn’t meet your personal needs (e.g. practical). Search for garments you know you'll be happy with for years to come.
I am always ready to help you in the store with styling tips, and if you have any questions about how to make your wardrobe more sustainable.
I wish you a stylish and sustainable 2020!
Lots of love,
